Description:

One child or the coach is the ‘Sticky Popcorn’ (tagger) and everyone else are corn kernels in a hot pot.

Kernels crouch low and as it gets hotter they pop (coach says it’s getting hotter, hotter....pop) and start to jump around doing little bouncy jumps around area trying to avoid being tagged.

If tagged join hands with the main tagger who remains at the head of the line.

The Sticky Popcorn keeps jumping around trying to tag a third person until everyone is tagged and part of the line.

Children can jump from side to side and forwards and backwards.

Note: Children can get fatigued very quickly with jumping activities so change up the methods of locomotion regularly to help keep them engaged.

Variations:

  • Repeat the same game with hopping or skipping
  • Change the size of the area
  • Have additional taggers
