The trial that changed everything

When Faye North stepped into the Health and PE role at Borroloola School, she needed something that offered structure, clarity, and practical tools to meet the needs of a diverse student cohort.

During a free 30-day KIDDO trial, she quickly saw its value - not just for planning and assessment, but as a platform to guide teaching, support intervention, and influence whole-school wellbeing strategies.

““Those 30 days were brilliant—I used it as much as I possibly could. It was then a great avenue to go to leadership and say, ‘Yep, I want this—and here’s what I’m going to do with it.’”

PE that fits Borroloola's context

From Transition to Year 8, KIDDO now underpins PE sessions across the school.

  • It's used to structure Health and PE programs
  • Daily movement activities and brain breaks have been incorporated
  • The structure brings consistency—without sacrificing flexibility

“It’s empowering—this information brings everyone together wanting the best for these kids, all coming from the same point.”

Embedding KIDDO into inclusion and support planning

At Borroloola, KIDDO is more than a PE resource—it’s helping shape a whole-school approach to inclusion and student support.

  • Assessment data is now being used to inform Individualised Education Plans (IEPs/EAPs) and NCCD documentation
  • Suggested activities from KIDDO are being integrated into programs developed with allied health professionals and NDIS providers
  • The school is also using KIDDO to help upskill team teachers, including Indigenous educators who support classroom delivery

“It’s empowering—this information brings everyone together wanting the best for these kids, all coming from the same point.”

Assessment that informs action and supports every learner

Borroloola uses KIDDO's assessment tools to identify needs, guide programming and intervention.

  • Transition–Year 2 students have completed the KIDDO FMS assessment
    • Jumping scores were above the national average
    • Other skills were below benchmark, helping staff identify where to focus
  • All Year 4–8 students were assessed using KIDDO’s CAMSA tool
    • Over 50% of students were in the ‘beginning’ category
    • Skipping and side-stepping were identified as key development areas
  • Results are used to:
    • Create small intervention groups
    • Add movement goals to learning plans and EAPs
    • Inform wellbeing strategies and school-wide programming
    • Send home personalised printouts with student reports

“I love that this is a consistent assessment—it’s based on what thousands of kids have done, and it’s so parent-friendly.”

Looking ahead: A sustainable program, built to last

KIDDO has helped Borroloola move beyond short-term fixes and create a lasting framework for movement learning across the school.

  • A clear plan is in place to ensure KIDDO’s assessment data, programs and activities continue beyond the current PE teacher’s role
  • Staff will gradually build confidence by leading one KIDDO activity per week—fostering school-wide capability
  • Future grant funding will be aligned with the school’s assessment data to target specific movement skill gaps
