Meet Professor Lisa Barnett

Presenting on WA soil for the first time, we are thrilled to announce the keynote speaker is none other than the world-renowned Professor Barnett.

From Deakin University in Victoria, she is both a world-leading researcher and trailblazing advocate of physical literacy and fundamental movement skill development. Lisa previously held the role of President of the International Motor Development Research Consortium and co-led the Australian Physical Literacy Framework. Her influence is so profound and wide-reaching that you'll find her physical literacy frameworks implemented in over 35 countries across the globe.  

Lisa’s work focuses on developing ways to measure physical literacy, improving physical literacy via partnerships with industry and researchers, and investigating the links between movement skills and health.

'Getting to the heart of the matter: the significance of physical literacy for children and how understanding a child’s perspective of their physical literacy can be used to inform your approach’

Lisa will discuss the importance of physical literacy development for children and share innovative ways to measure children’s physical literacy, including their movement skill competence, and how this information can be used to inform educational programs.
