Data Privacy FAQs
What personal information does KIDDO collect?
We collect only what’s needed to create and manage your account, such as your name, email address, and organisation. When using KIDDO’s assessment tools (FMS and CAMSA) schools may also record limited child data including:
- Date of birth – this is needed to compare results to children of the same age
- Gender
- Name – this is needed to identify the results for the student’s teacher
Fundamental Movement Skills assessment results e.g., how far the child jumped or fast they run
How is the information used?
KIDDO and The University of Western Australia (UWA) use this information to:
- Provide access to the KIDDO website and the KIDDO assessment tools
- Support lesson planning and reporting for schools and educators
- Generate individual assessment reports that teachers can share with parents
- Identify students that may need additional support with movement skils
- Conduct de-identified research and evaluation to improve children’s movement outcomes
All data use complies with the Australian Privacy Principles, the KIDDO Privacy Policy, and the UWA Privacy Policy.
Do I need to get consent from parents to enter their child’s name and date of birth on the KIDDO website?
This is a school decision that should be made in line with your state. The KIDDO website has been audited by the Department of Education (WA) and approved for use in schools.
Schools are advised that they can collect parent consent to enter children’s names and dates of birth using a bulk consent process at the start of the school year.
Do I need consent from parents to add them to KIDDO’s Parent Hub?
Yes. It is important to gain explicit consent from families before entering their name and email address into KIDDO’s platform. Once entered, parents automatically receive an email inviting them to create an account and access the KIDDO Parent Hub.
We recommend letting families know this is happening so they can expect the email and activate their account.
KIDDO provides a template information sheet and consent form that schools can adapt. To request a copy, please email admin@kiddo.edu.au.
