Light Chaser

This fun activity is great for winter when it gets dark early, or when you’re camping! It helps develop tracking skills for object manipulation and also locomotor skills.
Set up
Give your child a small flashlight that they can easily hold and have one yourself. Ensure you are in an activity space that is free from too many obstacles, inside or outside.
How to play
Step 1
- Explain to your child how this activity works: you start by slowly moving your flashlight around in circles and patterns either on the ceiling, wall or fence/ trees (if outside)
- Your child follows this pattern with their flashlight to start with, and then they try and chase the light
Step 2
- When your child is easily catching up to the light beam, switch over and get them to make the pattern that they follow
- If doing this on a vertical (wall, fence, trees) ask your child to try and jump to the light!
