Over the Mountain

This activity introduces babies to new surfaces whilst crawling, and maximises the fun level! 

Set up

Parent lies on floor for baby to crawl over.

How to play
Step 1
  • Parent lies on floor and encourages baby to crawl over them
Step 2
  • Once baby has crawled onto chest, parent can either grab them and ‘aeroplane’ baby, or let baby crawl to other side
Step 3
  • Encourage baby to crawl back to the other side 

Variations
Make it easier
  • Instead of crawling over you, lay out smaller hurdles, such as cushions for baby to crawl over
Make it harder
  • Make baby speed up by sitting up occasionally, so they have to race over
