With the support of Healthway we are thrilled to offer Early Childhood Education and Care services in Western Australia the opportunity to apply for a Healthway scholarship. 50 successful applicants will receive a 12-month KIDDO membership, starter pack of equipment (worth over $500), KIDDO demonstration session at your service and support to implement the program.

Eligibility

We are looking for ECEC services in under-resourced areas, with culturally and linguistically diverse populations and/or in regional or remote Western Australia.

The KIDDO Healthway Scholarship is open to: 

  • Long hours day care services 

  • Family day care services 

  • Community kindergartens 

  • Child and parent centres 

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. 

 

What the KIDDO team will provide 

  • 12 months membership to KIDDO - Includes access for all staff, programming resources, activity plans for an engaging and effective 0-5 learning program, and access to the KIDDO Parent Hub for families at your service. 

  • KIDDO Equipment Starter Kit worth $500. 

  • Workshops and/or demonstration sessions at your service - Includes one-on-one sessions with Education Leaders or Early Childhood Teachers (conditions apply for regional services). 

  • 4 free tickets to the KIDDO ECEC Conference in 2025

  • Personalised support - Email, telephone, and in-person support (conditions apply for regional services) for utilizing KIDDO in programming and planning. 

     

What do participating services need to do? 

To help ensure your service makes the most of this incredible opportunity we will request that you complete the below steps:

  • Nominate 2 KIDDO Champions - At least one must be a Centre Director, Education Leader, or Early Childhood Teacher to oversee the KIDDO program implementation. 

  • Attend a brief introductory webinar - two staff (your KIDDO champions) to attend a 45-minute introductory webinar. 

  • Complete online professional development - At least four staff to complete the online Certificate of Physical Literacy over the scholarship period

  • Co-contribution of $100 - As a sign of your commitment to this opportunity we are asking interested services to contribute $100, while receiving over $2000 of value in return. If this is a barrier to your serivce's participation but you are still fully committed to embedding KIDDO in your service, please get in touch.

What is KIDDO? 

KIDDO is a program developed by UWA to translate the latest research in gross motor skills and physical literacy into practical programs and resources for educators. Physical literacy involves developing the skills, confidence, motivation, and knowledge for children to be active throughout their lives. This program significantly impacts children's physical health, gross motor skills, and confidence in a sustainable manner.
