Air Cone Hockey

A quick game that builds upper body strength. Players attempt to slide a cone or ball into the opponent's goals while holding a front support position.
Set up
Each player has 2 cones placed in front of them to form a small "goal", approximately 1m - 1.5m wide. Players line up opposite one another in a front support position with their hands planted between their cones. Place a small cone or light ball (e.g., foam or plastic ball) in the centre to begin. Playing in pairs or 2 vs 2 works best for this game.
How to play
Step 1:
- Players form a front support with hands planted between their cones and feet on the floor.
- Ask the children: “Can you defend your goal while staying strong like a bridge?”
Step 2:
- One at a time, player's attempt to use one hand to slide or push the cone/ball towards their opponents goal.
- If the cone/ball goes through your goal, the other player scores a point.
Step 3:
- Play for a set time or to a score limit.
Variations
Make it easier
- Allow children to form a modified front support position with their knees on the ground.
Make it harder
- Play the game in a side support position.
- Increase the size of the goals and play 2 vs 2.
