Eraser Challenge

Classroom brain break

A fun, controlled movement game where children take turns at balancing an eraser on their head while being lightly chased around the classroom.

Set up

Each pair needs one eraser or small object. Use classroom or indoor space, with children weaving around the desks safely. Reinforce the rule of walking only — no running allowed.

How to play
Step 1:

Each child pairs up - one is the Racer, the other the Chaser.

Step 2:

The Racer places an eraser on their head and walks around the classroom while the Chaser follows behind. Walking only - no running allowed.

Step 3:

If the eraser falls, the Racer must stop, reset back at their desk and continue. After 30–60 seconds, switch roles.

Variations
Make it easier
  • Remove the chasing element of the game.
Make it harder
  • Ask the Racer to close their eyes and have the chaser communicate which way they need to walk to return to their desk safely.
  • Change up the challenge! Play a game of 'head, shoulders, knees, toes, eraser!'
