Joshua is a Senior Exercise Physiologist with over 10 years’ experience supporting autistic children and young people to engage in physical activity. He works across Public Health, the NDIS and Education, and is the author of the free Parent Guide to Exercise on the Spectrum. Josh is passionate about helping all children develop a positive relationship with exercise.

Jack Rolfe is the founder of The Coaching Lab and UPskill Learning, working internationally to support games-based, child-centred learning.
Jaxon Hogan is the Junior Primary PE Specialist at St Hilda’s Anglican School with a Master of Research in physical literacy.

Learn how to use the Canadian Agility and Movement Skill Assessment (CAMSA) to measure students’ movement competence. Allison will walk through the assessment process, demonstrate how it works in practice and share how teachers can use the results to support planning and monitor student development.

Physical Literacy in Action with Jessine Bonzas & Callum Higgs

Jessine Bonzas is a passionate PE teacher at Henley Brook Primary School and a strong advocate for physical literacy in primary education.  In 2025, Jessine led Henley Brook’s involvement in a Healthway research project measuring physical literacy and activity levels in students from Years 1–6, using the findings to further strengthen the school’s approach to physical education.

Callum Higgs is a Physical Education teacher at Wellard Village Primary School who has collaborated with KIDDO since 2021. He is passionate about using research-informed practice and physical literacy to build students’ confidence and competence for lifelong movement.

Breakout Session 2D – Physical Literacy in Action

Explore how physical literacy is being brought to life in primary schools. Jessine and Callum will share how data, research evidence and practical strategies are being used to strengthen the value of physical education within their school communities. Learn how small changes to planning and teaching can increase opportunities for students to be active while building confidence, motivation and fundamental movement skills.

Morning Fitness Made Easy with Nicole Cole & Derek Rijnhart

Nicole Cole is a PE teacher at Winthrop Primary School with over 20 years of experience across primary and secondary settings. She is passionate about helping children be more active by building their confidence and skills.

Derek Rijnhart has been the Physical Education Specialist at Applecross Primary School since 2016. He sees sport and physical education as an important part of community and personal growth and is passionate about creating opportunities for all students to be active. Derek has also volunteered with Fair Game, helping collect and redistribute sports equipment to support equitable access to sport for children.

Breakout Session – Morning Fitness Made Easy

Discover how to implement a structured, physical literacy–based morning fitness program that runs smoothly with minimal teacher setup or supervision. Nicole and Derek will share practical systems and routines from Winthrop and Applecross Primary Schools that help students get active straight away, while turning morning fitness into a meaningful extension of the school’s PE program.

Creating a Successful Running Club with Jessica Green

Jessica Green is the PE Specialist at Dunsborough Primary School and a Level 3 Recreational Running Coach with Athletics Australia. With over 10 years of teaching and coaching experience, she is passionate about helping students develop a love of running and the positive impact it can have on their health and wellbeing.

Breakout Session - How to Structure a Successful Running Club

This practical session explores the fundamental movement skill of running, including key technique cues, drills and fun activities. Based on the structure of Dunsborough Primary School’s Run Club, it will provide ideas and alternatives to simply running laps.

Understanding the WA HPE Curriculum with Dino Manalis

Dino Manalis is the Health and Physical Education Principal Consultant at the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and has over 20 years of teaching experience. His work has included developing and reviewing the WA HPE Curriculum and the ATAR Physical Education Studies practical assessment. Dino is also the current President of ACHPER WA.

Breakout Session - WA Curriculum: Health and Physical Education

This workshop will focus on the Primary HPE curriculum, outlining content and SCSA resources and a focus on assessment in Physical Education.

Join Martin Anderson to learn all about Changing Pressure Ratios and Strategy within Games

Martin Anderson is a Lecturer in the School of Sport Science, Exercise and Health at The University of Western Australia and has taught there since 1989. With a background as a secondary PE teacher, he specialises in physical education pedagogy and teacher education and has helped prepare more than 800 HPE teachers. He has also contributed to the field through leadership roles with ACHPER WA and the WA Curriculum Council.

Breakout Session - Designing Games for Better Learning 

Small changes to player numbers can transform how students learn in games. In this practical session, explore how adjusting team ratios (e.g., 4v2 or 3v1) can increase engagement, provide more ball touches, and support skill development and tactical thinking through modified games.
